Heat Trust is operated by Heat Customer Protection Ltd. Heat Customer Protection Ltd is a not for profit company limited by guarantee and is sponsored by the Association for Decentralised Energy. It is registered in England and Wales and the company number is 09456667. 

Heat Customer Protection Ltd is governed by a Board of Directors and a Committee

The Board of Directors of Heat Customer Protection Ltd is responsible for overseeing the Articles of Association, Company policy and finance. The Committee will oversee the efficacy of the Heat Trust Scheme and will be responsible for proposing amendments of Heat Trust to the Board. The Company Bye-Laws sets out the duties of the Board and Committee. 

The Scheme Administrator is responsible for the operation of the Scheme, including financial administration, IT and communications support and will report to the Board.

Auditing and Ombudsman Services will be contracted out on an independent basis by Heat Customer Protection Ltd.

The Heat Trust mark is a sign that the heat supplier has agreed to abide by the standards set out by Heat Trust. Use of this mark is strictly reserved to those heat network sites that have successfully applied to the Heat Trust Scheme and committed to abide by the Scheme Rules.   • Metering, billing and GSP Scheme Rules Review

Heat Trust is reviewing the Scheme Rules to keep them in line with ongoing developments in comparable markets. This is being undertaken in stages, covering the major aspects of the Heat Trust standards. This second consultation focused on metering, billing and Guaranteed Service Payments (GSP). Feedback was sought from all interested parties by 26th November 2020 on areas of the Scheme Rules to update.   • Vulnerable customers Scheme Rules Review

Heat Trust is reviewing its Scheme Rules in stages. The first was customers in vulnerable situations. Some modification proposals have been approved and can be found in Scheme Modifications. Others are still being developed and can be found in Open Modifications.
